Description:
Hi! My name is Brighton, I’m 6 1/2, and our Shelter Manager calls me sweet names like Starbright or Starbaby.
I really like my Travel Crate - it feels safe when I get scared, or want to take a nap, and if you shake a bag of Temptations Tune Treats, I’ll follow you and them anywhere. Those simple things make me feel so happy!
I came to West Columbia Gorge Humane Society in March of 2016. My family had long since disappeared and I was living alone on the streets. It’s often very cold in the Northwest during winter, so I was freezing, extremely hungry and lonesome beyond comprehension. I let the nice person catch me, yet when I went to the vet for my first exam, they had to sedate me. I get really scared of new people (especially the Vet!), and so some people have said that I “come off mean.” I’m not aggressive, but I do use my “words” to express myself, especially if I feel overwhelmed. That’s not who I am though, and if you give me a chance I’ll show you how wonderful it is to love me. I dream of being your One and Only!
Please don’t make me the center of attention - I like the background, and will come and find you. I love to be in a place where there is consistent routine as it helps me feel extra safe. Morning is my very best time of day. I love catnip, playtime, gentle words and soft touches. I’m OK with children who are cat-savvy and respectful. I’m not so sure about dogs… maybe if the doggy was extra cool and knows that cats are the true “people in charge.”
The shelter people love me oh-so-dearly and will keep me forever if necessary. I just really long for you - a person or family of my own, who will protect me and keep me inside, so I can give out all my purrs and love.
