Description:
Hi! My name is Buddy Boy and you can see from my rugged good-looks that I’ve spent a lot of time out on the streets. Indeed I do play hard, but you’ll find that I enjoy quiet, hands-on down time, too, as well as the company of people and cats for conversation and good cheer.
I have to admit, though, that I might be too handsome for my own good, and I got myself into some trouble living as a stray. My teeth were a mess and I got a case of ringworm, too. All of that has now been taken care of, but I also brought something back with me that isn’t going away, and that is the feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV). The hospital tells me that the virus (which cannot be passed to people or other animals) compromises the immune system, but with good health maintenance and a low-stress home, we FIV+ cats can live rich, long lives. Yay! FIV+ cats like me must go to a home alone or with another FIV+ cat, though a mellow, unaggressive, non-infected cat is also okay. (Here at the shelter, I’m best friends with the other FIV+ kitties). They tell me that CAT will provide a year of free health care to help me and other FIV+ kitties get a start in their new homes.
All that medical stuff isn’t what interests me though. I’m just looking for someone who admires a big, rugged, handsome, mellow guy like me, someone willing to play hard and then settle back with me for awhile to catch some TV or read a book. (I’m not too gentle playing, so a family with small kids might not be a good idea.) So come on in and we’ll do a quick round with those feather toys. Then we can take a break and discuss what you have in mind for my new forever home.
