Description:

Hi my name is Cora, short for Corazon. You know why? I have a rare heart defect called Tetralogy of Fallot. Blah, blah, blah. So I have some defects in my heart, including a very tiny hole. Does that slow me down? Nope! I’m a 10 lb. terrier mix and I must know that I’m beating the odds because I’m so full of life, affection and energy, I want to make the most of each day. Although I may disagree, my humans and the specialty vets I’ve seen say they are smarter than I am and that I need to listen to them. If I do, I’ll live a happy and almost full lifespan and that sounds pretty good to me.

If you like the entertainment that only a terrier can bring then you’ll love me. I play ball with so much enthusiasm but I also enjoy my nap time. I’ll settle down beautifully in your lap, on your bed, or in my crate (yes, I’m 100% crate and house trained—told you I was smart).

I’m a bit stubborn, like most terriers, and as I’ve said but am happy to say again, I’m pretty smart. I am super responsive to humans willing to lead but my instincts are to test boundaries. Once I know you are the leader, I’m a total cuddle bug and good girl. We just have to work through all that.

To live a long life I’ll need a quiet, low energy home environment as either an only dog or with just one other playful doggie companion. Because of my heart, my forever family will need to be extra special too. You’ll have to moderate my activity to a degree and make a few extra vet appointments. In addition to my regular maintenance vet care, I need my blood (PCV) checked quarterly, with a yearly echocardiogram (which can run in excess of $500).

If you live in Southern California and are looking for a scruffy, bearded-lady, terrier mix to entertain you and show you how to enjoy life, let’s meet and discuss it.
