Description:

My name is Gus. I am the luckiest and unluckiest dog on the planet. I am lucky because when I was first dropped at Friends For Life I was so sick I should have died. The sickness I had affected my brain and left me with some quirks but after much loving care and understanding for my neurosis, I am alive and well taking daily medication to stay healthy. I am unlucky because I have been waiting an awfully long time to find someone that will appreciate me for me, an atypical dude. I am not a dog (although I look deceivingly like one) I am not a cat, I am not a person, I am a Gus. My goofy crooked-tooth under bite, my affinity for felines and general dislike for loud and smelly children are some of the things that got my caretakers to fall in love with me.

I almost had a home once… Then the adopter got sick. When I was there I was either on the couch inside, or sun bathing on their outdoor couch. So basically, if you do not want me on the couch, I am not the dog for you. You would want to be on the cough too if you spent most of your life in a crate! I can take a few meetings to trust someone (it really helps if they bring french fries and we take some walks together!) but once I trust you I am by your side, ready to rub my body all over you in a cat-like fashion, or cuddle watching your latest Netflix obsession. My perfect home would be with someone who likes their routines, doesn’t have too many guests over, and will laugh when I get quirky and just say “Oh, Gus!” Are you an atypical being too? Meet me, the Gus.
