Description:

Hi, my name is Kaylee and, yes, that’s me speaking from the shadows where I’m trying to stay mostly invisible. I’m a bit nervous meeting new people or encountering anything new or loud, but actually I do love people once I get to know them (that’s maybe why they also call me “lover-in-hiding”). Once I’m comfortable with you, though, I won’t leave you alone. I’ll want to hang out with you and I’ll want all the pats and attention you can give. I’ll even stand up like a meerkat to reach your hand for head scratches. I do okay with other mellow kitties, too, but I am afraid of dogs. Mostly I just want love and a quiet home.

Sadly, I learned form the doctors here that I somehow picked up the FIV virus while I was a stray on the streets. This virus, which cannot be passed to people or dogs, compromises the immune system, but with good health maintenance and a low-stress environment, the hospital says we FIV+ cats can live rich, long lives. Cats like me must go home alone or with another FIV+ cat, though a mellow, unaggressive, non-infected cat is also okay. (Here at the shelter, I live amicably with another FIV+ kitty.) They tell me that CAT will provide a year of free health care to help me and other FIV+ kitties get a start in our new homes.

However, the main thing I want from my adopter is love and a quiet, forever home. In return I’ll provide them a lifetime of love, devotion, and affection.
