Description:

Hi, my name is Lacey and I’m so glad you stopped here for a visit! Yes, I’d love some pats but don’t be alarmed if I dart away or give a quick swat or nip. I’m still pretty nervous here in the shelter, you see, but I’ll pop right back for some more pats. I love to play, too, especially when you swing one of those feather toys for me to chase.

Actually, I’m a lot more comfortable here than I used to be. When I arrived, I was just terrified and hid under my bed all the time. The people here at the shelter are very kind, though, and I gradually emerged from my shell. Now I have a room of my own, and I actually look forward to visitors - I’m very people-oriented and do crave affection. It’s just that I’m still learning how to handle it all.

What I’m really looking for is a home of my own, preferably a quieter one, and one that is a bit predictable. Younger kids might not meet those needs. I’ve lived with other cats here and mostly ignored them, if they were respectful, but no cats at all is even better. I have to say I have a mild case of irritable bowel disease (IBD), maybe from the stress of being in a shelter, but a special diet is helping that, and a quiet, stable home might persuade it to go away altogether, though that’s not guaranteed. Still, a quiet home of my own and someone to love me are my prescription for real happiness. Then I can blossom and become the loving companion we are both searching for.
