Description:
Hello, my name is Lancelot, and I’m as handsome and princely as my namesake. However, after my early years living on the streets, I’m no longer the warrior type at all. My idea of a good time now is to hang out curled up next to you or in your lap, getting patted or brushed. Even better is a game of chase-the-ball or stalk the laser light. I should make a good family kitty, though this should be an older family. I can be a bit abrupt when I tire of attention, giving a quick swat or nip, for example, so I wouldn’t do so well with younger children - respectful older kids should be fine. I’d also rather be the only cat in the household.
My life on the streets as a stray was full of adventure but it wasn’t very romantic - I arrived at Cat Adoption Team with a mouth full of broken teeth and carrying the FIV virus. The hospital here fixed the teeth (my mouth feels so much better!), but the virus will stay with me. Not to worry! You can’t catch the virus from me, nor can dogs or other animals. As for me, the hospital here tells me that the virus compromises the immune system, but with good health maintenance and a low-stress home, we FIV+ cats can live rich, long lives. FIV+ cats like me must go to a home alone or with another FIV+ cat, though a mellow, unaggressive, non-infected cat is also okay. They tell me, too, that CAT will provide a year of free health care to help me and other FIV+ kitties get a start in their new homes.
So, I am still looking for that elusive forever home, with someone who loves me and understands when I need to be alone for a bit or to take a break. In return I promise to be an affectionate and playful companion, and my golden coat will brighten the darkest winter day. Will you let me be your knight in shining gold?
