Description:
Hi! My name is Marmalade and I’m indeed as sweet as my namesake, not to mention just as rich an orange. I’m a very affectionate boy kitty, I like to play, and I won’t say no to a cozy cuddle. What’s not to like about me!
I was adopted, but then I began to experience difficulties walking, even collapsing unexpectedly, leaving me briefly helpless. My muscles just didn’t seem to do what I told them! Back at CAT, the hospital ran lots of exams and tests, but nothing stood out to explain what was happening. Currently, they’re consulting with neurological experts in California about me. Meanwhile my condition seems to have stabilized since I moved into a loving foster home and started receiving daily prednisolone. With this supportive care I’m walking better, though still a bit wobbly, I can run a bit, do stairs carefully, and even jump on the couch with a great deal of forethought, and I still love to play (and no cat does a better meerkat routine than me). My skills as a snuggler have never been better. I still occasionally collapse, though, and the immediate problem is that sometimes this happens when I’m trying to get to the litterbox. Most of the time I reach it in time to pee, but for bowel movements…not so often, though it’s more often close to the litterbox than not.
Because I love people, I’m still looking for a home of my very own, one that really is forever. I am as sweet, loving, and playful as ever and otherwise a mostly normal young cat. I’d do well too in a family with respectful children, but prefer no other cats, thank you. Know too that I take my medicines easily, am a cinch to handle, and do love to eat. I’m mostly a very happy cat, and I smile when I’m happy! However, you need to understand that at this point no one knows how this peculiar condition of mine is going to play out, and that meanwhile I will need support for my special needs and you will need patience and flexibility. Love is the one thing I’ll be able to give back to you beyond anything you can imagine. Will you be there for me?
