Description:
Hi! My name is Max. I’m a gentle, loving guy, and I would really like to meet you. I arrived at House of Dreams after my beloved person passed away. I was very frightened at first by the abrupt change and had a difficult time getting used to living with other cats. I am doing much better now. Though I know the shelter humans love me, I am worried that the people who visit aren’t seeing all I have to offer. Putting yourself out there is hard! Whenever I attempt to politely introduce myself, one of the younger, extroverted cats barges up and puts on a little show for the visiting human. I get a little nervous and retreat to a cat bed or window perch, hoping I will be noticed for my manners and quiet disposition. Someone is looking for a sweet cat like me, right?
I am feline leukemia positive (FeLV+), but I am not sick. The shelter humans and vets say that I am not supposed to live with or be exposed to other cats who have not tested positive for the virus, but I would prefer to be an only cat anyway! I suppose if there was another FeLV+ cat present who was mellow like me, I could be happy with that. I appreciate a calm environment, windows I can look out of, soft places to sit and an understanding human or humans to love who I can call my very own and who will love me forever!
My medical needs are not too demanding. I should see a vet twice a year, even when I’m doing well (as opposed to once annual check-ups). The shelter humans are more than happy to discuss details and answer questions regarding the needs and care of a feline leukemia positive kitty. I am hoping to find a person with a quiet home who can see how much love I have to give and who isn’t afraid of my FeLV+ status. I really want to be the heart of someone’s home again!
