Hello, my name is Ocean and I’m a quiet, elderly and “gentlecat” with a distinguished snowy coat. I’m very polite, too! I will always ask with a gentle pat to the leg if I need a lift to your lap or to the soft bed in the window. And if you’re busy and can’t help at that moment, that’s okay! I’ll go away and come back later -I am very easy going. At times you’ll hardly be aware of me, just like my nickname!

Sadly, I also suffer from one of the downsides of aging - arthritis in my back legs. I’m being treated for this here at the shelter and that’s making me feel so much better. I’m on a weight reduction diet, too, which should help, and I’m also taking supplements, but I’ll always need special attention because of the condition. I mostly get around okay, but I can’t jump at all, even to get into a lap, so at times I must depend on you for lifts. Maybe gentle ramps or a block of small steps might be helpful, too. I’m sorry but I won’t be able to play very actively, but I like it when you sit beside me and do things with feathers and fuzzy mice that I can bat with my front paws. Still I’m mainly hoping for a quieter home with the focus on laps and soft sunny spots in the window. I’d prefer to be the only cat, but I have done okay with respectful children. Maybe you’re looking for a gentle companion for your own quiet home. Maybe you know what it’s like to have chronic pain and understand the needs of an older kitty. Maybe you’re looking for me!
