Description:
Hi, I’m River! I’m a very sweet and charming 35 pound Beagle/Terrier mix. I am super loyal and loving. I’ve bonded quickly to my trainers at MacLaren Youth Correctional Facility, and will most likely do the same with whoever adopts me into their family. I’m looking for a dog-savvy, adults-only home, where my family will give me the TLC, patience, and love I can’t wait to get.
Are you active? I hope so because I love to play, run, and exercise. I’m cool with other dogs, but if I had my choice, I would want to be alone or with female dogs only.
My trainers call me a smarty pants because I have already earned my Canine Good Citizen Certification, thanks to the hard work of my youth handler.
The story behind my name is unique and very touching. Some good samaritans found me stranded on a rock in a river. They saved me by taking me to the local county dog shelter, and they named me River. And, guess what? I love love love water! I’m a water dog for sure. My caregivers at Project POOCH always tell me I am very dear to all of them and hold a strong place in their hearts.
If you want to meet (which I hope you do!), please call 503-981-9531, x243.
