HI! I’m Athena and I’m so glad you’re taking the trouble to learn more about me and maybe consider me for the forever home I’ve been seeking so long. You’ve already seen that I’m loving and cuddly, that I love gentle hands-on attention, and that I’m happy just to hang out with you. Did you know I play, too? Try the laser! And strictly between us, I wouldn’t say no to a spot of catnip either.

So why am I still at the shelter going on nearly five months now? Well, I developed anxiety issues in my previous homes and this gets expressed as improper litterbox use, now chronic. I worry at too much activity around me and unexpected changes of routine. I’m bothered by other cats, too. The shelter has tried to help by giving me a room of my own, prescribing anti-anxiety meds and pheromone therapy, and by creatively managing the litterboxes. This all helps but I still often respond inappropriately. I’m sorry but I can’t help it! So please, please be flexible and patient with me and understand what to expect from me and make special arrangements for me - I don’t want to come back to the shelter again, I want this to be the real forever home.
