Description:
Hi! My name is Uma and I’m cute and kind and sweet, but I need help. I arrived here at Cat Adoption Team nearly a year ago with a tail-pull injury, which caused irreversible damage to my bladder and its nerves. Now I must take daily meds and have my bladder expressed twice a day. That sounds awful for a 6 years old kitty (and I’m embarrassed to talk it about it in public), but it doesn’t require a vet and isn’t difficult to do at home, but does require some hand strength, they say. If I don’t get this care twice daily, I get bladder and urinary tract infections and it’s exceptionally painful (just imagine if you couldn’t pee). I then rapidly become depressed and I don’t eat, and it’s awful for me.
So what is the reward for providing me a lifetime free of pain? Well, some of the people here at the shelter say I’m one of the kindest, gentlest cats they’ve known (blush). I do have a soft little meow and absolutely love when people are around. I currently reside in one of the shelter offices, but now that I’m feeling good again, I often climb over the baby gate to explore and visit my friends at the reception desk. I just adore petting and snuggling, they say my fur is like that of a bunny, and I have a most fashionable stubby tail, if I do say so myself.
My medical needs are simple, but they are demanding and will require a lifetime commitment. This really is why I need help to find my forever home. This is why I need you!
